Robert Kaplan, Professor of Leadership Development at the Harvard Business School and Chairman of the Balanced Scorecard Collaborative, will examine how the Balanced Scorecard system of Performance Measurement and Strategic Management has transformed notions of valuation over the last decade. Dr. Kaplan will discuss how to apply this extraordinary framework to IT strategy: Using the Balanced Scorecard to create a strategy-focused IT organization; How strategy-focused organizations achieve breakthrough performance; Creating an IT strategy map of linked objectives, aligned with business unit strategy; Communicating IT and business strategy to employees; and Reporting and managing IT strategy.

Bennett Stewart, Senior Partner at Stern Stewart & Co., will examine these vital questions: How IT create or destroy shareholder value? How should a CFO best evaluate an investment in IT, and how can the IT department be organized, measured, and motivated to maximize its performance? Should IT be outsourced, and how should that fit into an overall strategy of business transformation outsourcing? In his remarks, Bennett Stewart will discuss these and other IT valuation issues from the point of view of the CFO and the investment community.

Janet Brutschea Haugen, SVP & CFO of Unisys, will present a case study on how to invest in new systems, set priorities, achieve ROI on “hard costs” while reducing IT spending in a multi-year strategy.
