CFO Rising will be held at the Renaissance Waverly Hotel
Atlanta, Georgia on March 10-13, 2002

Keynote Addresses:
Frank Weise, A 25-year finance veteran at powerhouses such as Procter & Gamble and the Campbell Soup Co., is now the President & CEO of Cott Corporation, the world’s leading supplier of retailer brand carbonated soft drinks. In his address, Mr. Weise will provide an overview of what it takes to make a successful transition from CFO to CEO of a large public corporation – the skills required and the challenges to overcome; truly a CFO role model.

Earl Shanks, CFO of NCR will discuss how commoditization, shortened business cycles, and fast, complex decision-making are huge challenges for business and industry today and the margin for error has decreased. Add to that the demands of operating globally, 24/7. What does it take to compete successfully in this extraordinary environment? These challenges require that the CFO, the CEO and the CIO work together to create the business objectives, define the companies’ competitive advantage and design the information vision for knowledge-sharing to benefit the employees and the customers. A handful of senior executives cannot make every decision, nor should they want to. Business operates in real time and everyone throughout the organization, whether local or global, frontline or executive, needs to be working from one version of the business, one version of the truth.

Kevin Parker, EVP and CFO of PeopleSoft will explore why it is important for companies to move forward with strategic planning and purchasing decisions in tough economic times. While the typical reaction is to pull back and cut costs, it is sometimes necessary to accelerate the technology investment to reduce overall costs, improve efficiency and increase profits. The session will detail how an investment in business software can help companies improve their bottom line.

Gerald Wilkins, CFO of AFC Enterprises will speak about AFC Enterprises' journey to becoming one of the world's largest franchising restaurant, beverage and coffee roasting companies. Founded in 1992 after its parent company filed bankruptcy, total company revenue in 2000 was $755.2 million, up 3.9% over 1999's. The company successfully launched an IPO in March 2001. An incredible story! Hear how AFC's CFO played a leading role in this turnaround and what procedures he implemented to achieve success.
